Canadian Centre Announces Formal Partnership with New Brunswick Government.

WINNIPEG, MB: Today, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection is pleased to announce a partnership with the Government of New Brunswick to better protect children and youth from online risks and sexual exploitation. This partnership will lead to the promotion of the Canadian Centre’s programs and services throughout the province, in addition to the incorporation of the Kids in the Know interactive safety education program into the curricula for New Brunswick public schools.

Signy Arnason, Associate Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection was in Fredericton to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Marie-Claude Blais. This Memorandum of Understanding will also enable the development of new strategies to prevent sexual abuse of children and adolescents.

“The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is thrilled to be partnering with the Government of New Brunswick,” said Lianna McDonald, Executive Director of the Canadian Centre, “Together we are helping to reduce children’s risk of victimization by ensuring that safety education becomes an integrated part of their life.”

“This agreement is an important step forward in the Province’s ongoing work to protect young New Brunswickers from those who prey on youth online,” Minister Blais said. “With the addition of new materials to promote safe Internet use, our schools’ curricula will ensure children and teenagers understand the nature of online dangers and can use the Internet safely and responsibly.”
